The city of Trinidad (capital of the homonymous municipality) is located in the southern part of the central region of Cuba, occupying the southwestern portion of the province of Sancti Spiritus.

It extends from 21 ° 05 'to 21 ° 15' north latitude and between 79 ° 45 'and 80 ° 07' west longitude. For the city of Trinidad passes the meridian 80 ° west of Greenwich.

The municipality has a surface area of ​​1155.4 km ² and, even though small, is greater than 25 independent countries of the world. Trinidad bordered to the north with the municipalities of Development (Sancti Spiritus) and Manicaragua (Villa Clara), on the south by the Caribbean Sea on the west by the municipality Cumanayagua (Cienfuegos) and east of the provincial capital.
