In the relief of the town large structures are distinguished: to the north, the mountains and premontane zone strongly dissected that comprise the Trinity Heights, pertaining to Guamuhaya Massif, and historically known as the Escambray Mountains.

This mountainous area covers more than 70% of the total area of ​​the municipality. The height of these mountains ranges between 400 and 800 m, and show steep hillsides with steep slopes that impede access. The highest elevation is the Pico Potrerillo, southeast of Topes de Collantes, which reaches 931 m.
